This book is a translation of the book "How to Teach about Values: An Analytic Approach". The book was written by Jack R. Fraenkel and published by Prentice-Hall, Inc. Englewood Cliffs.N.J. This translated book is the 10th book printed in 1977. In translating, efforts are made as much as possible to make it understandable for students and teachers, and on certain pages sometimes Indonesian names are used, in order to familiarize readers with the book material.

The translation and publication of this book is intended, apart from meeting the needs of students as a reference book in the course Basics of Moral Education and Teaching and Learning Strategies, also to meet the needs of teachers regarding the scarcity of reference books needed for affective-based learning, especially in efforts character development that is integrated into the subject matter. Because in the formation and development and education of character, it cannot be separated from the education of values, morals and norms as its essential foundation.

In chapter I, the material comes partly from the translation of Value from www.wikipedia.com, and also quotes Prof. Dedi Supriadi's foreword entitled 'Value Education; A Megatrend?', in Rohmat Mulyana's book, "Articulating Value Education".

Because of this, a critical and selective attitude is needed, but wisely responding and wisely to draw "ibrah" (lessons) from the learning offered, to then creatively try to design learning based on values, morals and norms that are in accordance with the values of Pancasila, religion and culture of the Indonesian people themselves.

We hope that this translated book can be useful for the formation of values, morals and norms, as a basis for the formation and development of the character of students and the younger generation, so that noble morals can be realized in accordance with the values of Pancasila, which has belief in one God and just humanity. and civilized, Upholding Unity and Integrity, People-oriented on the basis of wisdom, deliberation and consensus, and realizing Justice for all Indonesian people.
