About this app

This Android application is an explanation of how not to take the wrong steps in choosing a legal partner by Sutomo Abu Nashr, Lc. In Pdf format.

Marriage from an Islamic perspective is a sacred event. The contract entered into by the groom and the guardian is a great agreement which in the terminology of the Qur'an is called the term which is also used for the great agreement of the prophets with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. That is the mitsaqan ghalidhza.

With such a sacred position, the path of marriage must be tread carefully. And choosing a partner is the first step in walking that long journey.

There are many reasons why someone chooses a particular partner. In a hadith, the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam mentioned this phenomenon by citing several reasons. Some are because of wealth, some are because of heredity, some are because of beauty, and some are because of religion. And it is this religious reason that the Prophet advised his people to use as the main reason.

In the editorial of this hadith it is clearly ordered. And in ushul fiqh there is a rule that the wording of an order is a consequence of the obligation of the object of the order.

With this rule, the consequence is that it would be a sin if someone likes and then marries someone just because of their beauty or because of their wealth. However, is it true that this command has the consequence that the object of the command is obligatory? Isn't there also a sunnah command?

So if so, should beauty, wealth, heredity not be taken into consideration at all? Does it really have to be only for religious reasons that marriages take place?

And it turns out that from the various realities of marriage since the time of the Prophet, some of the Companions married women who were actually non-Muslim women. Women from among the people of the book. A woman who never worships Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. To the point that in his time, Umar once ordered his friends who were still married to women from people of the book to divorce them. There are friends who refuse. Because, didn't the prophet himself also do it before?
