About this app

This Android application is an explanation of the story behind the Jihad News against the Mafia by Prof. Denny Indrayana, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D. In Pdf format.

This book, Stories Behind the News, is a collection of articles and interviews that I conducted. Nevertheless, it remains a united thought in the spirit of fighting the legal mafia, especially the judicial mafia.

It contains 41 of my articles published in the daily Seputar Indonesia and Banjarmasin Post, as well as nine of my interviews with various national media. These fifty articles and interviews have been summarized in this book, and God willing, it will not be the last book. I still have hopes of continuing to publish further, more meaningful books in the coming years.

This book, as the title suggests, tells stories that do not appear in the mainstream news. The article in Seputar Indonesia is more conceptual, and therefore I deliberately wrote it in a national daily. Meanwhile, the columns in the Banjarmasin Post are more behind the scene stories, the stories behind the news; I deliberately wrote it in a local daily to avoid the possibility of politicizing the factual news that I presented.

Because, if seen from a political perspective, the aim of revealing the factual story is biased, it does not achieve its aim, to endlessly spread the spirit of jihad against the mafia. But now, to provide more balanced information to a wider audience, I have decided to include it in this book.

This book is divided into six chapters, and closes with two final articles in the Epilogue section. The first chapter, "Jihad Against the Legal Mafia", reviews my thoughts regarding the legal mafia. The content is more conceptual, and is therefore placed at the beginning to provide a framework for thinking about how to read the following chapters. This first chapter closes with the interview "Eradicating Corruption Must Start with the Judiciary", which contains the basic argument that without first eradicating corruption in the judicial sector, eradicating corruption in general will not be successful.

The second chapter, "Saving the Corruption Eradication Committee", is placed to accompany the conception of the struggle against the mafia. The reason is simple, in the contemporary Indonesian context, efforts to fight the mafia will not be possible if the KPK is weakened, or if the KPK is successfully disbanded. A powerless Corruption Eradication Commission, or a Corruption Eradication Committee that does not exist, is the highest ideal that corruptors in the country continue to strive for. Apart from several improvements that must continue to be made, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) remains the hope and front guard of this nation in its efforts to create a cleaner, more anti-corruption Indonesia.
