Sport Club do Recife is known for its biggest symbol: the lion; its official colors are black and red and, since 1937, it plays its games in Ilha do Retiro where it is supported by the sports crowd. Leão da Ilha is one of the most popular clubs in Brazil, having historical rivalries with América Futebol Clube, with whom it duels in the Clássico dos Champions, the first famous Pernambuco classic; with Clube Náutico Capibaribe, in the confrontation known as the Classic of Classics, which is the third oldest classic in the country and the oldest in the Northeast Region; and with Santa Cruz Futebol Clube, whose confrontation is called the Clássico das Multidões, as it is the one that usually brings more fans to stadiums in Pernambuco.
