Founded on April 6, 1943, Goiás played in the Brazilian Championship for the first time in 1967 (during the ninth edition of the then Taça Brasil). It is the only club from Goiás to have participated in the Copa Libertadores of America and to have reached a final in both the Copa Sudamericana and the Copa do Brasil. In addition, he is the greatest champion of the Goiano Championship, with 28 titles, being a fifth championship between 1996 and 2000. Since the year 2000, there have been 11 state champions, 3 regional champions and 1 national champion.
