The Jalalain tafsir book is generally considered to be a classic Sunni tafsir book that is widely used as a reference, because it is considered easy to understand and consists of only one volume. The Book of Tafsir Jalalain (Tafsir al-Jalalayn, meaning: "tafsir two Jalal") is a book of tafsir written by two Imam Jalalain, namely Imam Jalaluddin Muhammad bin Ahmad Mahalli (al-Mahalli) and Shaykh Jalaluddin 'Abdurrahman bin Abi Bakar Suyuthi (al- Suyuthi)

Tafsir Jalalain was originally compiled by Jalaluddin al-Mahalli in 1459, and then continued by his student Jalaluddin as-Suyuthi in 1505. Jalaludin al-Mahalli started writing tafsir from the beginning of Surah Al-Kahf to the end of Surah An-Naas, after that he interpreted Surah Al-Fatihah until completion. Al-Mahalli then died before he could continue. Jalaluddin as-Suyuthi then continued, and started from surah Al-Baqarah to surah Al-Isra'. Then he placed the interpretation of surah Al-Fatihah at the end of the previous sequence of interpretations of Al-Mahalli.
