Royal Road - Read Stories

It's got several terrible features. Ads that are always at the bottom of the page are bad enough, but they've introduced full screen pop up ads that come completely out the blue. Horrible when you're reading at night and suddenly blinded. The latest was about "genetic retardation" as offensive as it was stupid. Downloading and ad free experience is reserved for paying users. But the cost is 30 dollars a year. Not a one time purchase, but a monthly or yearly expense. Cannot recommend the app.

If it wouldn't keep going into landscape mode and locking it'd be great. Slightly move the phone and it flips to landscape mode.who the heck holds their phone that way too read. The only way to get back into portrait mode is exit the app, lose your place, and have to scroll through what you were reading to find it again. Slight movement does this. Get bumped, a little shake, it seems even breathing too heavy is hazardous! Then you have to exit the app and start over.

Only downsides at this point is the ads sometimes being to bright compared to the background which i doubt could be fixed without maybe being able to request a new ad. Or that text suddenly stops showing up leaving a black background and sometimes freezing while in that state. Maybe server issue that happens to stall the app? Either way it is rare enough I wouldn't subtract a star from it.
