The United States visa policy deals with the requirements foreign nationals wishing to enter the United States must meet in order to obtain a visa, namely permission to travel, enter, and reside in the United States. Visitors to the United States must obtain a visa from one of the United States diplomatic missions unless they are from one of the visa-free or Visa-Free Program countries. The same rules apply to Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, while different rules apply to American Samoa. Although the US visa policy applies to Guam and CNMI, both regions also have their own visa waiver programs.
