Cherries are plants of the subgenus Prunus, with the characteristics of having a small corymbs compound interest, and have a smooth fruit with only a weak groove on one side, or no groove. Subgenus is native to the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, with two species in America, three in Europe, and the rest in Asia.
