Zakat Fithri By Syaikh Salim

This zakat fitri (law) is obligatory based on the hadith (from) Ibn Umar: "The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) made zakat fitri obligatory (in the month of Ramadan for humans)

Some Ahul Ilmi stated that zakat al-fithri has been fulfilled by the hadith of Qais bin Sa'ad bin Ubadah Saw, saying: "The Messenger of Allah ordered us with shadaqah fithri before the zakat (obligation) was sent down and when the zakat (obligation) was sent down he did not order us nor did he forbade us, but we did it (paying zakat al-Fitr)."

Al-Hafidz Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani ash-Shafi'i answered this suspicion with the words 3/368: "That in the sanad there is an unknown narrator and even if it is considered authentic there is no evidence to show that the Qais hadith (deleted) has Zakat al-Fitr is obligatory, perhaps Rasulullah SAW fulfilled the first commandment, because reducing one obligation does not invalidate other obligations."

Imam Al-Kahthabiy said in Ma'alimus Sunnan 2/214: "This does not indicate the disappearance of the obligation of zakat fithri, but only shows an addition in the type of worship, does not require the previous law to be fulfilled, the position of zakat on wealth (as) the position of zakat fithri (ie) is related with riqab (individuals/souls)"
