Tarawih prayers were prescribed in congregation based on the hadith of Aisyah "Rasulullah went out one night and prayed at the mosque, people also prayed with him, and they discussed the prayer, until many people gathered, when he prayed, they also joined prayed with him, they discussed it again, until the number of occupants of the mosque increased on the third night, the Messenger of Allah went out and prayed, when the fourth night the mosque was unable to accommodate the congregation, so he only came out to perform the Fajr prayer.

After finishing the prayer he faced people and recited the shahada and then said:

"Amma ba'du. In fact, I know what you did last night, but I'm afraid that it will be obligatory upon you, so that you will not be able to practice it." 761].
