About this app

This Android application is 33 Questions and Answers Regarding Sacrifice. In PDF format.

Author: Abdul Somad. Lc., M.A.

In Arabic, Qurban is known as al-Udh-hiyyah, the meaning according to language is the animal that is sacrificed, or the animal that is slaughtered on the day of Idhul Adha.

Meanwhile, according to Fiqh experts, al-Udh-hiyyah is defined as follows:

Animals that are slaughtered to get closer to Allah SWT, from the day of Eid al-Adha to the days of Tasyrîq (11, 12 and 13 Dzulhijjah).

In Islamic teachings, Qurban worship is prescribed in the second year of Hijri. Viewed from a historical aspect, the sacrifice of worship has existed since the time of Prophet Adam AS, as stated in the Qur'an:

"Tell them the story of the two sons of Adam (Habil and Qabil) according to the truth, when they both offered sacrifices, it was accepted from one of them (Habil) and not accepted from the other (Qabil). he said (Qabil): "I will definitely kill you!". Habil said: "Indeed, Allah only accepts (sacrifice) from those who are pious." (Qs. al-Ma'idah [5]: 27).

Then the Qurban worship was also carried out by Khalîlullâh Ibrahim AS, as Allah SWT said:

"So when the child reached (the age of being able to) try with Ibrahim, Ibrahim said: "O my son, I actually saw in a dream that I was slaughtering you. So think about what you think!" He replied: "O my father, do what you are told; God willing, you will find me among those who are patient." When both of them had surrendered and Ibrahim laid his son on (his) temple, (the patience of the two of them was evident). And We called him: "O Ibrahim. Indeed, you have justified the dream. Indeed, this is how We reward those who do good. In fact, this is truly a real test. And We redeemed the child with a large sacrifice " .(Qs. ash-Shâffât [37]: 102-107).
