About this app

This Android application is an explanation of the standardization of Amil Zakat in Indonesia by the Indonesian Ministry of Religion. In Pdf format.

The potential for zakat in Indonesia is quite large. In a research report from the Center for the Study of Religion and Culture (CSRC) UIN SyarifHidayatullah Jakarta together with The Ford Foundation (2006), it was stated that zakat, infaq and sadaqah funds reached around 19.3 trillion rupiah per year. Meanwhile, according to Habib Ahmed (2010), the potential for zakat, infaq and sadaqah is estimated to reach around 100 trillion.

It is hoped that the large potential of zakat can be used to improve community welfare. So that zakat, infaq and sadaqah can be optimized as aspects that support community development, professional management is needed.

For this reason, Law Number 23 of 2011 concerning Zakat Management has now arrived, perfecting the previous Law, namely Law Number 38 of 1999. In Law Number 23 of 2011, the zakat amil institution, its functions, authority and duties as well as the supervision system are explained.

There are two types of zakat amil institutions contained in the law; The amil institution formed by the government is the National Zakat Amil Agency (BAZNAS) and its unit (Zakat Collection Unit/UPZ), and secondly, the amil institution! which was formed independently by the community (Lembaga Amil Zakat/LAZ).

In article 5 paragraph (3) of the Law, it is explained that the National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) is a "non-structural government institution that is independent and responsible to the President through the Minister". Technically, coordination and supervision of its implementation is carried out by the Indonesian Ministry of Religion through the Directorate of Zakat Empowerment, Directorate General of Islamic Community Empowerment.

Community participation in zakat management is widely opened in this law. With a number of certain criteria, Islamic organizations can form zakat amil institutions. Whether BAZNAS or LAZ, both have a big role in supporting the achievement of optimizing the potential of zakat to improve people's welfare.

In this regard, it is hoped that the presence of this book can become a medium for socializing Law Number 23 of 2011 concerning Zakat Management; the background to the birth of this law, the systematic content, as well as a number of other information regarding efforts to increase the capability of zakat amil institutions in managing zakat, infak sadaqah so that the goal of achieving community welfare through zakat can be achieved optimally.
