Fasting in the month of Ramadan in the context of Indonesian society is not just a spiritual event, but also a socio-cultural event. Various activities of worship in mosques, prayer rooms, surau seem to be full of recitation activities, obligatory prayers and sunnah worship as well as activities to deepen the study of other religious knowledge. Activities in the month of Ramadan show different activities compared to previous months, both among parents, teenagers and children.

Religious practices in the community, after carrying out the evening prayer and short wiridan, before carrying out the tarawih prayer, are usually used by prayer priests to give tausiyah or religious advice which is familiarly known as kultum (seven minute lecture). Usually the takmir of the mosque arranges the schedule of the imam and the speaker for 29 days during the fasting month.

For takmir mosques whose community environment already understands religion very well, compiling and determining lecturers is very easy, this is not the case for people who are still studying religion, say they are still new to understanding religion, so having a pocket book in the form of a collection of cults during the month of Ramadan is very important .

To fill the empty space that can provide convenience for the community in implementing the cult before the Tarawih prayers, the Faculty of Dakwah and Communication (FDK) of UIN Sunan Kalijaga compiled a Pocket Book of Ramadan Cultum Collection: Pearls of Advice for a Thousand Months. This book was written by the lecturers of FDK UIN Sunan Kalijaga as part of the Da'wah syi'ar in society.

The Dean of FDK thanked Dr. Abdur Rozaki, M.Si, as Dean III for Student Affairs and Cooperation who initiated this book. My thanks also go to the management of the Center for Da'wah Studies and Social Transformation (PSDT), especially Mr. Muh Izzul Haq as Chair and Ahmad Izudin as secretary who are full of dedication and commitment to realizing this book. Also FDK lecturers who are willing to write for this book. May Allah repay the kindness of all ladies and gentlemen.

Hopefully this Pocket Book will be useful for the community. Amen, O Lord of the worlds.
