The best way for a Muslim to perform the Hajj and Umrah rituals is to perform the Hajj and Umrah in accordance with what the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wasallam did so that he will receive love and forgiveness from Allah. Allah Ta'ala says:

"Say: 'If you (really) love Allah, follow me, Allah will love you and forgive your sins. Allah is Forgiving, Most Merciful." (QS. Ali Imron: 31).

While the most perfect form of Hajj is the Tamattu Hajj for people who previously did not bring sacrificial animals, because the Prophet - sallahu alaihi wasallam - has ordered (to perform tahallul after completing Umrah) and emphasized to his companions by saying:

If I were to face my business (in pilgrimage) I would not have looked away. I will not bring sacrificial animals, and of course I will be with you guys."

Hajj tamattu' is performing Umrah worship perfectly in the months of Hajj, and tahallul from the Umrah, then entering the ihram for Hajj in that year.
