About this game

Hoigi is a third dimensional tabletop strategy game that combines the classic gameplay of Shogi with a new tiering mechanic. Players take turns moving their pieces around a nine-by-nine board, trying to trap their opponent's king. However, in Hoigi, players can stack up to three pieces to create towers, which have unique movement options. This adds a new layer of strategy and complexity to the game, making it a challenge for even experienced tabletop gamers.

Hoigi is easy to learn but difficult to master. The game has a variety of features that help players improve their skills, including challenges, AI opponents, and online multiplayer. Hoigi also allows players to customize the board and pieces, making it a truly unique and replayable experience.

If you're looking for a challenging and strategic tabletop game, then Hoigi is the perfect choice for you. With its innovative gameplay, Hoigi is sure to keep you entertained for hours on end.

Disclaimer: This game has been inspired by the fictional Tabletop Game "Gungi" from the manga/anime "Hunter x Hunter" written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi, but because the rules are different that makes them two different games.

Overall experience is great! The GUI is well designed and none of the component gives you feel where it lacks. Feel of the game is perfect for what it is meant for and the customization options and pretty good too. Even tho, it's in early stages and some areas need work but has a great potential to be one of the addictive games for the mindful people. Looking forward to future updates!

Lots of Praise for the developers developing the game. It's very good to see a fiction becoming a reality. Some challenges have wrong answer. Example is I found a move that can checkmate the opponent king but it showed me as wrong move. Please provide some instructions for understanding what the challenge is . Maybe pawn promotion can be included? It seems good to add the feature. Overall great work and Thank you

Thank you for the kind words and for reviewing Hoigi - Tabletop Strategy. Upon checking the checkmate challenges it seems that a bug was causing this issue, but it will be fixed in the next update, thanks for letting me know about it. I will consider adding pawn promotion at a point.

I spent a good 10 mins without understanding anything but following blindly while trying to figure the basics out. That shows the potential of the game - having someone like me with extremely short attention span to follow something blindly for 10 mins. Edit: Significant improvements since my last comment. Thank you for considering my idea. I'll spend some time with the tutorials now!

Hello, our aim for the tutorial was to explain the basics of the game (dropping pieces, towers, tiers) while keeping it relatively short. We checked your suggestion and it seems that explaining the game while it is being played normally is a better option. Thank you for your suggestion, we will take it in consideration when we change the tutorial.
