Fortaleza Esporte Clube is a multi-sport club based in the city of Fortaleza, in the Northeast of Brazil. It was founded on October 18, 1918, by Alcides Santos, one of the greatest athletes from Ceará, who fell in love with football during the period he studied at College Stella, Switzerland.

In football, the main sport in which he plays, his main title is the Campeonato Brasileiro da Série B in 2018, when he was national champion in the year of his Centenary and with two rounds to spare. He is twice champion of the Northeast Cup, winning in 2019 and 2022, in addition to the Cidade de Natal Cup, when he was champion in 1946 (one of the first regional titles played in the Northeast), and of the former North–Northeast Tournament in 1970. of 45 Cearense Football Championship titles (the last being in 2022), in addition to an extra state championship in 1972, and one more of the tournaments held by the defunct Cearense Metropolitan League.[citation needed] The club also made relevant campaigns at the level national team, was twice Brazilian vice-champion in Série A, in 1960 and 1968 and twice Brazilian vice-champion in Série B in 2002 and 2004, thus being the Ceará club with the best campaigns in Série A and in Serie B of the Brazilian Championship. It is the only club from Ceará to win an international tournament, although it was a friendly competition, it was the 1962 Paramaribo Cup that the club won undefeated. And in official games, it was the first Ceará club in history to play a match outside Brazil, for the 2020 South American Cup. It was the first Ceará team to play in the Copa Libertadores da América, in 2022.
