About this app

Mytaman is a IoT community app that helps secure your neighbourhood in times of trouble and create a closer community as neighbours.

“Taman” means neighborhood in Malaysian context. People would usually associate “Taman” as the area where they live. The word itself is in the Malay language. Having a safe and secure taman is every family’s objective but we live in an imperfect world where thieves and intruders will occur. Intruders or unidentified suspects who break into your house bring fear and insecurity to your family and home. Mytaman app serves to help families and tamans create a secure and safe neighborhood for individuals to stay without the fear of break-ins and burglary. Not only that, it brings distance amongst neighbors as they trust each other less. So, Instead of pumping in money for tighter security, Ben had the idea of creating an App that can help with security, restoring peace to his Taman and ensure there are no strangers in Malaysian Tamans. Thus Mytaman is created. It enables neighborhoods to relive their lives to be free as well as have the chance to engage with neighbors.

I've been using a few 'taman' apps for each of my houses in KL including iCares and iNeighbour, and it's clear that MyTaman has quite some catching up to do. iOS version is much more refined (as we'd expect) but the UX shouldn't be THAT different. Biggest fix would be the 'More' screen loading – why are you forcing the app to load even the 'sections' from DB when you can just bake the them into the app and only load the details? Also, some italic parts uglifies things instead making it elegant.

Useful app but contains few bugs. I am using Samsung Note8 running Android P. Unable to update my picture and edit profile. it shows Something went wrong. When click o House Contacts and tried to edit, it was not saved successfully. Then I proceed to click on other menus. It shows loading please wait and back to previous menu. Has to close and relaunch the app for it to act normally again. overall, the app has good potential when these bugs are ironed out.

Jun 2021: Still no update for noticeable notification tone(s)? Sep 2019: l can't find any setting for audio tone for notifications received. It would be good to be able to set a notification "tone of your choice" (instead of a default tone) and be fully aware of incoming notifications. Default tone is generally for routine alerts (of which many are not important or non-urgent messages).
