The Yajurveda-Sanhita is divided into two distinct branches ক Shukla Yajurveda Sanhita and Krishna Yajurveda Sanhita. The Brahman part of each branch of Krishna Yajurveda is mixed with the Sanhita part. In the Vayupurana, Krishna mentions 6 branches of Yajurveda. The Krishna-Yajurveda also contains descriptions of the ritual and its statutory interpretation as well as the formulas for the ritual. Other non-mantra passages are written in prose and are antecedents to Brahmanical texts.
