Norway - Gjesvaer app.1

This is the first tourist app guide of the series devoted to Norway.

By plane you reach Oslo then Honningsvag airport and from then, Gjesvaer is only 35 by car far kms.

I am sure that most of you have not heard of this wonderful Norwegian village till now.
It also happened to me that I had visited North Cape four times before the shooting days.
In fact, it was not so long ago since it is possible to reach this very picturesque village by road.
The connection road with the rest of the Magerøya island was only opened in 1976 and till then only fishing boats and some spare explorer landed in its harbour.

HISTORY: By the way Gjesvaer is one of the five not to be missed places in Northern Finnmark.
It seems had been inhabited and was renown as a trading post and fish station from the Viking Age, it was also presumably the first site at Magerøya with a permanent settlement. From that times and up to the last century this fishing village was one of the largest and richest fishing villages in Finnmark.
