Bhagavata Purana Other names Srimadbhagavat Mahapurana, Srimadbhagavatam or Bhagavata means, this Mahapurana contains the holy story of the Supreme Lord. It is a devotional scripture. In the Bhagavata Purana, Vishnu (Narayana) is referred to as Parabrahma, who created numerous worlds and entered each as God. Vishnu created fourteen worlds in the form of Brahma using Rajoguna; In the form of Vishnu, assuming sattguna, he protects and nurtures those worlds, and at the end of the Mahakalpa, in the form of Rudra, by adopting tamoguna, he destroys those worlds.

Vishnu's devotion to the human form of Krishna is the subject of the Bhagavata Purana, the story of Krishna is told in a single 190 chapter with a total of 9 Skandhas of this Purana. This Skandha covers one-fourth of the entire Bhagavata Purana. All events from Krishna's birth to his death are recorded in this Skandha. It also contains the conduct of bhakti yoga, explanations of bhakti and descriptions of various forms of bhakti. Many Vaishnavas consider this book to be identical with Krishna, and this book is the epitome of Krishna.
