I have been using Penmap for 2.5 years and have experienced countless bugs, issues, and lost time on the job and troubleshooting off site. Penmap has the potential to be a great app if Trimble is able to fix the issues. These frequent issues include location cursor rapidly bouncing around on the map, difficulty connecting to correction sources, "RTX start via satellite" failure error when connecting to Trimble Corrections Hub, inaccurate elevations off by several feet while RTK Fixed with TCH.

This review is for the 'freemium' version of Penmap. If you are hoping to use this without paying Trimble for the subscription - don't bother ... You can't download the data which you have collected without it. I wasted an hour out in the field collecting test data for validation before I found this out. It doesn't mention this fact anywhere before you start using it. This App, just like Trimble's MANY others is a signature Trimble product. Another subscription.

This GNSS app by Trimble is extremely frustrating to use for a first time user of operating GNSS. Trying to set up the Catalyst with this software and Trimble mobile manager has many issues. Getting random error messages with Can-net when setting up RTK. This program is not user friendly, and I would recommend anyone considering using this app to stay away and look elsewhere. You will be wasting alot of time and resources troubleshooting this app.
