GHG Protocol - Pecuária

Over the last few years, the demand for specific technical guidelines for the world agricultural sector has grown considerably. Thus, WRI Brasil, with the support of Embrapa, has created a calculation tool to measure and more effectively manage greenhouse gas emissions for the agricultural sector of Brazil, the GHG Agricultural and Livestock Protocol, compatible with other internationally accepted protocols for the development of corporate GHG inventories such as ISO 14.064 and the methods of quantification of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

This tool allows the calculation of GHG emissions from livestock using specific methodologies for the Brazilian reality and enables producers, as well as companies from agricultural value chains, to identify opportunities to increase productivity from low carbon techniques, increase the climate resilience of their production systems, and at the same time monitor and track progress toward establishing and monitoring emission reduction targets, communicating results to investors and end consumers, and responding to national and international demands for more sustainable development.
