This app offers the Bible in Portuguese, translated by João Ferreira Annes d'Almeida, Portuguese Protestant pastor of the Dutch East Indies Reformed Church.

Simply known as João Ferreira Almeida, very young he left the Catholic Church, converted to Protestantism and lived in Indonesia and Malaysia, both Dutch colonies in the East.
João Almeida Ferreira was the first translator of the Bible into Portuguese. He translated the New Testament, which was first published in 1681.

Almeida began translating the Old Testament, but died without completing the work to which he had dedicated his life. His last work was Ezekiel 48:21. His work was completed by the Dutch pastor Jacobus op den Akker.

The complete Bible in Portuguese was published in 1681. Later, in 1898, it was revised and a new edition was published: "Revista e Corrigida". Again in the mid-20th century, it was revised and published under the name "Revista e Updated".

The Ferreira João Bible has two main sections: the Old and New Testaments.
