The mobile app TRIGRAD AR offers a glimpse into the magical world of the sacred Rhodope Mountains shrouded in mysteries and legends of the glorious past of ancient Thracians. The slopes still echo with the footsteps of gods and mythical heroes such as god Dionysus, the legendary musician Orpheus and Hades, god of the Underworld.
The mobile app provides information on tourist attractions on the territory of Devin Municipality and particularly in the vicinity of Trigrad village. Users can visit these sites and landmarks with the help of a digital guide providing directions throughout the experience.
The navigation tool offers digital maps and routes complemented by audio instructions in Bulgarian and English.
The tourist sites and attractions are presented in the mobile app by means of augmented reality in matching digital settings and environments.
Dozens of 3D images of mythical heroes, marvelous creatures, animals and other entities who have left vivid traces in the history and folklore of the region come to life in front of the users’ eyes.
Users can capture memories from their experiences by taking their pictures with the 3D images.
The app offers a varied choice of locations, attractions and routes of different difficulty.
These are thematically ordered to satisfy the users’ diverse interests and sought experiences, for example:
- routes and locations of cultural and historical value (museums, information and exhibition centres, etc.);
- caves;
- extreme adventures for adrenaline enthusiasts (rock climbing, climbing of metal stairs in the rocks, cave rappelling, etc.);
- offroad trekking to magical and mystical locations;
- children and family entertainment;
- an escape to the wild following ecological paths, etc.
The mobile app was developed in the framework of Contract No. MDR-IP-01-55 of 14 August 2023 financed by the Community-Led Local Development Strategy of the Local Initiative Working Group “High Western Rhodopes: Batak – Devin – Dospat” through the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and the state budget of the Republic of Bulgaria.
