This app contains testimonies and written fragments by Phlegon of Tralles regarding the earthquakes and three hours of darkness (or solar eclipse) that were said to have occurred during the Passion and Crucifixion of Jesus Christ during the reign of Tiberius Caesar. The fragments are cited in the works of Jerome, Origen, George Syncellus, Philopon, Agapius, and Michael the Syrian, which are referenced within this app.


Who was Phlegon of Tralles?
Phlegon was a Greek writer and historian during the time of Emperor Hadrian, who lived during the 2nd century AD. His chief work was the Olympiads, an historical compendium in sixteen books, documenting the 1st down to the 229th Olympiad (776 BC to AD 137).
