ZamBaSulTa Phrasebook

The ZamBaSulTa Phrasebook is a derivative work of the phrasebook, "Languages of the Southern Gateway," a compilation of important phrases in the Chavacano, Sinama, Tausug, Yakan, English and Filipino languages published originally in 1979.

In the ZamBaSulTa Phrasebook App, some phrase have been updated or improved upon to match language change and research that has happened since the original publication. In an attempt to simplify and partly due also to our inability to verify or improve upon the Chavacano and Yakan data, these two languages have been left out of this initial electronic publication. Instead the app seeks to cater to a Sama and Tausug audience as well as to other Filipinos, Malaysians, and foreign students who may have interest in understanding the languages included. In the future we hope to add the Malay language as a service to this audience.

Electronic publication enables end-users more possibilities such as search and audio. Search is already available and in the future we hope to add audio features as well.
