About this game

You wake up, confused, in a strange place. A place determined to kill you. A haunted house. Will you leave with your life, or be trapped in undead servitude?

Macabre Mansion is a 43,000-word interactive horror novel by Billy Towers, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based—without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

When you find yourself in a strange room, in a strange house, with blood splattered across the walls and on the floor...you try to recall how you got there. But you remember nothing. There is an ominous aura here, the smell of death lingering in the air.

There is one thing you now know; you need to leave if you want to stay alive.

• Play as male, female, or non-binary.
• Travel through a cursed mansion that wants your soul.
• Solve puzzles, avoid traps, and escape your undead captors.
• Encounter the tormented souls that haunt every corridor.
• Discover the secrets that hide behind the house’s walls.
• Survive the night and change the fate of the mansion.

A short story that has you escaping from a Cursed mansion. This game is a unique mixture of literal blood baths and bloody rooms with darkness, danger, and traps. The best part is when you die, you get to try your last choice again. So the puzzles aren't too bad. This game does have some spelling errors, and it's very short with limited replayability. The pacing in this game is really fast. The only way out is through and there are only a few endings. It's a decent read all things considered.

It made me very angry. The grammar was horrible and inconsistent. When my character died - I didn't care. I didn't restart. The word "theatre" was used incorrectly over and over. "Theater" is the place, while "theatre" is the actual drama, acting, etc. Also, at one point a dress was described to be like something out of a renaissance fair, and then a bit later, the dress was described as Victorian style. Those aren't the same. Do some research! It felt like it was written by a 5th grader.

For a free game, it is great. That said, it has some typos, particularly that annoying "your" and "you're" grammar mistakes.
