About this app

Ufa is a city of Russia, capital of the Bashkir Republic, on the right bank of the Belaja River (river port), near the confluence with the Ufa River. The city was founded in 1574 by order of Ivan the Terrible as a stronghold to defend the south-eastern region of the Russian Empire from external incursions. Railway junction and notable industrial center (engineering, petrochemical, agro-food, electrotechnical industries) and commercial (both for mining products and for those supplied by the rich agriculture of the republic).
The city owes its name to the Bashkirs: the main ethnic group in the region, culturally influenced by interactions with Central Asia and Moscow, in the past led a semi-nomadic existence and today is renowned for its strong sense of hospitality. Ufa was the birthplace of Sergei Dovlatov and rock singer Zemfira and holds an authentic and unknown charm.
