About Neuropsicologia TCC

Your brain isn't a fixed structure. Every time you learn something, every time you change a way of responding, the connections between your neurons reorganize. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) works, fundamentally, because it's a structured learning process.

This app explains how.

WHAT YOU'LL FIND

▸ BACKGROUND
What neuropsychology is and why CBT is a learning intervention. Neuroimaging studies showing brain changes after therapy for depression, social phobia, and OCD.

▸ BRAIN NETWORKS
The three major networks that explain how your brain works: executive control, the default mode network (the rumination network), and salience (the network that makes anxiety felt in the body). And the amygdala-prefrontal axis, which explains why you can't avoid the first emotional reaction, but you can train the second.

▸ SELF-ASSESSMENT
Two psychoeducational scales: everyday cognitive lapses and metacognitive beliefs. With interpretation of results and breakdown by subscales.

▸ SIX CBT TECHNIQUES
Each with its neural correlate and scientific reference:
- Cognitive restructuring (reappraisal)
- Behavioral activation
- Exposure with inhibitory learning
- Attention training (ATT)
- Defusion and metacognitive work
- Implementation intentions

▸ INTERACTIVE EXERCISES
Three classic tasks from experimental neuropsychology, playable:
- Stroop — inhibition and interference control
- 1-Back — working memory and updating
- Rule change — cognitive flexibility

▸ A-B-C BEHAVIORAL DIARY
Record of situation, automatic thought, emotion, and alternative. With identification of which brain network predominated in each episode.

EVIDENCE-BASED, WITH ITS LIMITATIONS

All content cites peer-reviewed literature: Kandel, Draganski, Goldapple, Baxter, Craske, Ochsner, Diamond, Neff, Wells, Hofmann, Cuijpers.

And something most apps don't mention: neuroimaging findings on psychotherapy are correlational and based on small sample sizes. They show that the brain changes with CBT; they don't prove that this change is the sole cause of improvement. What is solid is the clinical efficacy of CBT, supported by meta-analyses. Neuroscience supports CBT; it doesn't replace it.
