About SpectraCam — See invisible. Near IR & UV camera.

Our vision has high resolution and a huge dynamic range, but it mixes and poorly distinguishes spectral components. With the SpectraCam app and the camera of your smartphone, find out how we look - our teeth, light-cured fillings, skin, veins and moles in the near infrared and in the near ultraviolet. How insects see flowering plants and see the world. What is the difference between cheese from milk and cheese with the addition of vegetable dyes? How are look banknotes, flowers, camouflage in narrow spectral ranges?

Features:
Multispectral Viewer. View the selected part of the spectrum in real time. Green - the center of the visible spectrum, near infrared, near UV and the usual color image.
Multispectral photo. Take photos at once in three spectral ranges (near infrared, green, near ultraviolet), plus a normal color image.
Color photo to multispectral photo converter.* Use the “FileConv” button to launch the gallery and select a photo file. The converted photo will be saved in the same directory and under the same name with the suffix “_RGB” added.
Vein viewer.** Use the LedOn/LedOff button to turn on the backlight, set the infrared spectral range (“nearIR” button) and observe the near-surface blood vessels.
2x Zoom. Use the Zoom 1x/2x button to enable digital zoom.
Selfie / Main camera. Use the Main/Selfie button to switch cameras.

Permissions:
Camera. Required for taking photos.
Storage. Required to save photo.

To check the compatibility of your smartphone, you can use RGBCam (free version of SpectraCam).

*: The original photo should be taken with the settings "max quality/min compression", otherwise defects of JPEG compression will be noticeable.
For several reasons, the resolution of the converted photo is reduced: in the JPG file, only the luma component has full resolution, but the chroma components from which the spectral components are extracted have 4 times less pixels. Also, due to RAM limitations, if the original photo has a resolution higher than that of the smartphone’s photomodule or more than 12 megapixels.
Noise reduction algorithms destroy useful information, so if possible, disable noise reduction and set a lower ISO value, this sometimes reduces noise reduction.
HDR photos are not supported.

**: It works poorly with cameras with aggressive denoiser.
The Vein viewer does not work at all if the veins are hidden by a layer of subcutaneous fat. Usualy, for most people up to 20 years it is insignificant, and the veins are clearly visible in the infrared range on the arms, legs, head. On the neck arteries can also be seen. At age after 40 years, visibility is keep on the biceps, fist and forearm. Fist veins are visible in almost all.
In addition, the hemoglobin level matters, the higher it is, the more contrast the image. Its level depends on gender (higher for men), fitness (endurance sports), degree of fatigue, smoking. An abstract ideal variant is a man of 20-30 years old, who was engaged in cross-country skiing, with a small smoking history.

Frequently Asked Questions(FAQ)

What is SpectraCam?

SpectraCam is an app that allows you to see in the near infrared and near ultraviolet using the camera on your smartphone. It helps you to distinguish spectral components and see things that are typically invisible to the naked eye.

What can I see with SpectraCam?

With SpectraCam, you can see various things such as teeth, light-cured fillings, skin, veins, moles, flowering plants, and the world in the near infrared and near ultraviolet. You can also observe the differences between cheese made from milk and cheese with the addition of vegetable dyes, as well as examine banknotes, flowers, and camouflage in specific spectral ranges.

What are the features of SpectraCam?

SpectraCam offers features like a Multispectral Viewer for real-time viewing of selected parts of the spectrum, Multispectral photo capability to capture photos in three different spectral ranges, a color photo to multispectral photo converter, Vein viewer to observe near-surface blood vessels, 2x Zoom for digital zoom, and the option to switch between selfie and main camera.

What permissions does SpectraCam require?

SpectraCam requires access to your camera in order to take photos, and storage permission to save the captured photos.

Can I check if my smartphone is compatible with SpectraCam?

Yes, you can use RGBCam, which is a free version of SpectraCam, to check the compatibility of your smartphone.

Are there any limitations or considerations when using SpectraCam?

When using the photo converter feature, it is recommended to take the original photo with high quality and minimal compression to avoid noticeable defects from JPEG compression. The resolution of the converted photo may also be reduced due to technical limitations. Noise reduction algorithms may reduce useful information, so it is recommended to disable noise reduction and set a lower ISO value when possible. HDR photos are not supported by SpectraCam. The Vein viewer may not work well with cameras that have aggressive denoiser. It may also not work if the veins are hidden by a layer of subcutaneous fat. The visibility of veins varies depending on age, gender, fitness level, fatigue, and smoking history.

IT REALLY WORKS! So many frauds in the past, finally a near IR, UV cam, and its genuine, not ridiculous psychedelic color, well, it does some, but you can ignore it. I do. No. This is the real deal . Detract...
