About VHU - Veterans Hockey United

Veterans Hockey United (VHU) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that brings active-duty service members and military veterans together through the sport of hockey. This is the official VHU Player Portal — the private member app for the VHU community.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

- See upcoming VHU events — tournaments, league games, charity games, and regional meet-ups — and RSVP "In," "Maybe," "Out," or "Interested."
- Chat with your team. Every member joins a national channel and any regional or event channels you're added to. Send messages, share photos, and react to posts.
- Browse the member directory. Filter by region, military branch, hockey position, or skill level to find players near you.
- Manage your profile. Add a photo, set your hockey position and skill level, jersey number, and a short bio.
- Control your privacy. Choose per-field visibility (full name, phone, email, city/state, military branch) — members only, board only, or just you. Opt out of the directory entirely if you prefer.
- Sign in with biometrics or your password.
- Get push notifications for new events and chat messages, or mute any channel you don't want to hear from.

PRIVACY AND SECURITY

VHU is built with operational security in mind. Many of our members are active-duty military, so:

- The member directory and chat are private to approved VHU members. New users must sign up and be approved by a VHU admin before the app unlocks.
- You control what other members can see about you, per field.
- All data is encrypted in transit. Passwords are handled by AWS Cognito — VHU never sees them in plaintext.
- You can delete your account from inside the app at any time (Profile → Delete account). Account deletion is immediate and irreversible.

WHO IS THIS APP FOR

This app is intended for active-duty service members, military veterans, and approved members of Veterans Hockey United. New members can sign up in the app or at https://veteranshockeyunited.org. Once you complete your profile, a VHU admin will verify your eligibility and grant access.

VHU is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We organize hockey events, tournaments, and community gatherings for veterans and active-duty service members across the United States. Membership is free, and donations support our charitable mission.
