Satkhira is located on the coast of the Bay of Bengal and the Indian border.
The original name of Satkhira district is Satgharia. At the time of the permanent settlement, Vishnuram Chakraborty, as an employee of Raja Krishnachandra of Nadia, purchased the pargana at auction in 1772 and established the village. His son Prananath Chakraborty brought Satghar Kulin Brahmins and established this pargana and named it Satghariya.
