About Ezelan

Ezelan is a screen-print studio for your phone 📱.

Bring in a photograph, choose a small set of spot inks, and the app 📱 does what a
print shop does: it separates the image 🖼️ into one coverage map 🗺️ per ink, runs each
map 🗺️ through a halftone screen at its own angle and frequency, and re-composites
the result the way ink actually sits on paper. What you see 👀 is not a filter 🎚️ over
your photo 📸 — it is a simulation of a print, dot by dot.

WHAT IT ACTUALLY DOES

• Ink separation. Your image 🖼️ is separated into 1–4 spot inks on a chosen paper
stock, solved against the Neugebauer/Demichel model of how overlapping inks
reflect light — not by naive channel splitting.
• Halftone screening. Eight screen types: clustered (round) dots, elliptical
chain dots, square dots, line and wave screens, plus Bayer ordered dither,
Floyd–Steinberg and Atkinson diffusion. Each ink gets its own angle (0–90°)
and frequency (20–150 lpi).
• The Halftone Lab. Put a finger on the angle dial and the whole picture
re-screens live under it — the grain rotates, the rosette forms and breaks,
and the moire meter names the two worst-beating screens and their beat
wavelength in millimetres while you drag ✋.
• Dot gain and ink limit. Yule–Nielsen dot gain (n) and total 💯-coverage limiting
are real controls, because paper scatters light and shadows print as mud
without them.
• Per-ink tone curves. Monotone cubic curves that cannot overshoot, edited over
that ink's own coverage histogram.
• A poster composer. Sun discs, speed ⚡ lines, cloud banks, bars, frames and type ⌨️
are drawn into the coverage maps BEFORE screening, so generated art and the
photograph share 🤝 one grain and read as a single print.
• Films. Every separation on its own sheet with registration marks — the set a
shop would burn screens from — plus the flat poster and a contact sheet.
• Export 📤 at up to 4096 px straight to your photo 📸 gallery 🖼️.

IT EXPLAINS ITSELF

The Method Sheet carries the actual derivations — Murray–Davies, the Demichel
primaries, the separation LUT, each spot function, and the moire beat — every
one with a live diagram 📊 driven by the same engine that renders your print. The
Glossary defines the trade's terms with a drawn example beside each.

WORKS OFFLINE 📴

There is no account, no sign-in and no feed. Your photographs and your projects
stay on your device 📱. The only thing the app ever loads from the network is the
legal document you tap 👆 in the Legal screen.

WHAT IT IS NOT

Not a filter 🎚️ app 📱. Not a preset gallery 🖼️. Not a photo 📸 editor with sliders labelled
"vintage". Every visible pixel comes out of the ink model.
