About Fauna: Animal Quiz for Kids

Fauna teaches children aged 8 to 13 about animals and the natural world — then checks what stuck.

Pick a topic. Read a few short, illustrated slides. Take the quiz. Earn paw prints that stay on the home screen, so progress feels owned rather than rented.

What is inside

• 8 topics — mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, ocean life, insects and bugs, dinosaurs, habitats and biomes, and endangered species
• 56 illustrated learning slides, always free for everyone
• 240 questions across three levels in every topic
• 24 paw prints to earn

Built so not knowing is safe

Every question has an "I don't know yet" button, and pressing it still scores. A wrong answer is treated exactly the same way: the correct answer appears with a short explanation, and the question is marked to revisit. Nothing is ever marked in red, because not knowing something yet is where learning starts.

There are no timers, no countdowns and no streaks to lose. Time pressure raises anxiety and gets in the way of remembering things, so it is simply absent. A child can put the app down mid-question and come back next week to the same place.

The explanation is the point. The score is just the wrapper.

Works anywhere

Every question, every slide and every picture ships inside the app. Fauna works in airplane mode, on a plane, in a car, or on a tablet that has never had a SIM. Nothing loads, nothing buffers, nothing needs a signal.

For parents

• No ads. Not banners, not videos, not "rewarded" ads. None, ever.
• No third-party analytics and no tracking of any kind.
• No accounts and no sign-in — not for your child, and not for you.
• Nothing anywhere in the app for a child to type, and no way to contact anyone through it.
• We collect nothing. Progress is stored on the device and never leaves it.

The parents area sits behind a randomly generated multiplication question that changes every time, so a child cannot tap past it. It holds the settings, a progress summary, and the one purchase. Every outbound link lives behind it too.

Accessibility

Read-aloud is on by default — a speaker button reads any slide or question out loud. Text scales to 200% and the layouts reflow rather than clip. Reduce Motion is respected, and can be turned on independently in the parents area. Sound is sparing and never plays on a wrong answer.

Free, and what the purchase adds

All 56 learning slides are free, always, for everyone. So are the first five questions of every level in every topic.

One optional purchase opens the remaining questions across all eight topics. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Nothing recurs.

Stars are earned against the questions a child can actually reach, so a child who never buys anything can still earn every paw print. Buying raises the ceiling; it does not unlock the ability to do well.
