Wildlife of Borneo
Field guide to 1,200+ Borneo species. Plan trips, log sightings, works offline.
About Wildlife of Borneo
Borneo holds some of the richest biodiversity left on Earth — ancient rainforest that is home to orangutans, pygmy elephants, clouded leopards, eight species of hornbill and thousands of species found nowhere else. This is a free field guide to over 4,200 of its species.
Wildlife of Borneo brings a field guide, a trip planner and a sightings log together in one app, built for people actually heading into the forest.
FIELD GUIDE — 4,200+ SPECIES
Mammals, birds, amphibians, lizards, snakes, turtles and crocodiles, each with photographs, identification notes, diet and habitat, and the reserves and rivers where you are most likely to see them. Species carry their Malay and Indonesian names alongside the English and scientific ones, so you can ask a local guide about them by name.
BUILT FOR THE FIELD — WORKS OFFLINE
Phone signal in Borneo's reserves is unreliable at best. A core set of 150 species — the ones people look up most, from orangutan and proboscis monkey to rhinoceros hornbill and saltwater crocodile — ships inside the app with full photos and notes, and works with no connection at all. Your sightings list and trip plans are stored on your device and work offline too.
Want the rest offline as well? Tap Download Full Pack to pull down the complete photo library over Wi-Fi. Once downloaded, every species works without a connection.
REGIONS AND RESERVES
Guides to Borneo's wildlife hotspots across Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Kalimantan — Kinabatangan river safaris, Danum Valley, Tabin, Mulu, Sepilok and more. Each location covers what lives there, when to go, and how to arrange a visit. Every location is pinned on one map.
TRIP PLANNER
Add any region or species that interests you to a personal itinerary. Build it up as you research, then use it yourself or email it to a tour operator so they can tailor a route around the wildlife you actually want to see.
SIGHTINGS LOG
A complete checklist of every species in the guide. Tap a species once you have spotted it. Add a location and dates, then export the list as a PDF or email it — useful for trip reports, life lists, or sharing with the people you travelled with.
NO ACCOUNT NEEDED
There is no sign-up and no login. Your sightings and trip plans stay on your device. The app carries no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking.
