Vävda rum (Woven Places) is Sweden's first national exhibition in augmented reality. The exhibition opens simultaneously in over 300 towns and cities during spring 2023 and is the geographically largest exhibition in the country's history.
The exhibition showcases new AR artworks by 10 Swedish artists, who are exhibited at over 3000 unique sites. Each artwork is developed for a specific site type, for example, a town square or a bus stop, and becomes uniquely situated in each location. The audience experiences the art through the Woven Spaces app, which they access from their own devices. All artworks are interactive and make use of the latest technological developments within augmented reality, scalable networking infrastructures, and similar technologies to create an immersive experience beyond anything that has been done previously in this field.
The project is a collaboration with Sveriges Konstföreningar and is funded by Postkodsstiftelsen. Ulrika Flink is the curator of the exhibition.
