About CAPA

The Center for Academic and Professional Advancement (CAPA) at the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) is a professional center of choice that is responsive to local and regional, public and private sector educational needs and is a leader in nurturing a culture of academic success, higher education preparation, lifelong learning, and continuous professional development.
CAPA provides educational programs to everyone, from ages 3 to 103, to people with diverse backgrounds and interests. CAPA offers educational programs for children as young as three years, where working mothers can leave their young children at AUK’s nursery, receiving an early childhood education in an English environment. Meanwhile, the mothers can enroll in various language and professional development courses at CAPA. CAPA offers a wide range of courses for working professionals, and for those who would like to join the workforce and are looking for short-term courses and certificate programs to obtain marketable skills in a hands-on educational environment.
The CAPA logo mirrors the sign for infinity, signifying the limitless learning opportunities for our community via our various educational programs. Building on the years of experience and expertise of AUK's qualified instructors, CAPA has built an excellent English-language program that offers opportunities for academic and professional growth, targeting both aspiring students and professionals in diverse industries. CAPA also offers tailor-made programs for corporations, supporting the transition process involved in the professional development of their staff. CAPA’s summer school offers programs in specific skills and programs (coding and digital marketing), as well as entrepreneurship development, hospitality management, financial accounting, investment decision-making, and much more.
