HatCheck turns volunteer sign-in into a familiar, welcoming ritual. When you open the app, you see a full-screen wooden hat rack mounted on a warm wall, with four sturdy pegs ready for today's helpers. Each volunteer appears as a tiny cloth cap—maybe a baseball cap, beanie, or sun hat—hanging by its brim, complete with a dangling kraft paper tag that shows their name and assigned task in handwritten pencil style. Tapping any hat reveals all the details, including contact email and availability notes. Above the pegs, two polished brass plaques keep you informed: one displays the total number of hats on the rack, while the other shows how many volunteers are still needed for the event. If a helper has completed their shift or checked in, you will immediately notice the small blue feather tucked into their cap’s band—no checkmarks, just a quiet, visual signal. Adding a new volunteer is as simple as filling out a short form on the Add screen; once saved, a brand-new hat appears instantly on the rack with a fresh tag. From the Roster tab, you can scroll through a vertical list of hat cards, each with colored bands that match the cap fabric, and swipe to edit or delete entries effortlessly. The Search tab lets you filter the entire list by name or task, so you can find the right person even when the team grows. When the rack is empty, you will see a quiet scene of bare pegs, a blank dangling tag, and a folded sign-up sheet resting on the top shelf, inviting you to get started. Every interaction you make—adding a volunteer, updating a task, marking attendance—is saved locally on your device and reflected on the rack immediately. There are no accounts to create, no internet connection required, and your data stays private right where it belongs.
