The One Small Step app is your coach to live more sustainably. Get a personalised sustainability roadmap to reduce your environmental impact.

Get a breakdown of your current carbon footprint and a set of recommended programs you can take to shrink your carbon footprint.

Rather than feeling like you have to do everything and anything under the sun, we curate the most impactful behaviours and activities that will help you improve quickly. You’ll get curated programs, support, coaching and guidance to help you carry out those activities.

About One Small Step

Our mission is to use behavioural science to help millions reduce their environmental impact.

This first version is just the start. We’ve built it with a tiny team and have big plans to improve it over time.

We need your help to achieve this: the more people who use this app, the more insights we gain into how to most effectively support you to reduce your carbon footprint. Right now, we need your feedback and input on what is working for you and what isn’t in this version of the app. You can give us feedback on Facebook, Instagram or by emailing us at [email protected]

Our goal is to help all users reduce their carbon footprints to 2 tonnes of CO2 or below, in line with the UN’s 2050 goal for annual per person carbon footprints. And just a few thousand of us, acting together, can have a rapid and massive impact.

If 50,000 of us reduced our personal carbon footprints by just a quarter over the next 12 months, that saves a whopping 250,000 tonnes of carbon emissions (taking an average of 20 tonnes of CO2e a year as a baseline). That’s the same saving you get from planting 4 million tree seedlings, or from taking 54,000 cars off the road or from running 54 wind turbines instead of using fossil fuel energy for a year.

One Small Step’s behavioural science approach breaks down the actions you need to take to become more sustainable, with simple, easy-to-follow steps. The app’s tailored programs help you build sustainability skills and foster long-term environmental practices that have an outsize impact on your carbon footprint. Programs cover food, energy, waste, transport, and the stuff you buy.

The app lets you track your progress and the environmental impact you have, alongside the broader community’s impact, ticking off achievements as you go and scheduling new activities into your calendar.
