About Perfusion Practica
Practical Perfusion was conceived as an academic, concrete and easily accessible consultation tool. Its fundamental objective is oriented towards education and maintains the firm purpose of motivating interest and deepening our work, promoting a critical stance.
To achieve this purpose Perfusion Practice makes several tools available:
- Perfusion Calculator for adult and pediatric patients: Body surface area, BMI, blood volume, hematocrit and hemoglobin in CPB, blood saving techniques (intraoperative autologous donation, autologous priming), administration of packed red blood cells, pump flows by cardiac index, pump flows by calculated DO2, anticoagulation and neutralization, variables derived from oxygen (CaO2, CvO2, DO2, VO2, TEO2) and carbon dioxide (VCO2, respiratory quotient), systemic vascular resistances, corrections (carbon dioxide, potassium and baking soda). Parameters that make perfusion an objective and measurable science.
- Topic reviews. This section contains reviews on different subjects, based on the most relevant articles, to generate clarity and deepen a particular knowledge.
- Mind maps / algorithms. In this section, each of the previous reviews is simplified with the aim of organizing each topic into a sequence of instructions that guides the resolution of a problem in a concrete and quick way.
