About Kurfürstenspiel
Historical background of the game
The originally Swabian family of the Zollern, later called Hohenzollern, experienced a rapid rise since being enfeoffed with the burgrave of Nuremberg in 1191. They received a considerable number of possessions and rights in today's Franconia through purchase, pledge, skillful diplomacy and, in some cases, through armed conflicts. On April 30, 1415, King Sigismund appointed his loyal Burgrave Friedrich VI. even elector of the Mark Brandenburg. What a career!
In the Kurfürsten-Game you can playfully empathize with this ascent - and the many feuds that the Zollern had to wage on the way there in Brandenburg.
The game is a foretaste of the new exhibition at Zoller's Cadolzburg near Nuremberg - HerrschaftsZeiten! Cadolzburg experience - where from 2017 the late Middle Ages in Franconia can be experienced with all your senses.
