Surah Fatihah is one of the most important surahs of the Holy Quran.

It was revealed in the Meccan period. It has seven verses. Since it is the first sûrah of the Holy Qur'an, it was named “Fâtiha” meaning “the beginning”. It also has other names such as “Umm al-Kitab” (the essence of the Book), “al-Sab'ul-Mesani” (seven repeated verses), “al-Asas”, “al-Wafiya”, “al-Kafiya”, “al-Kenz”, “al-Shifa”, “al-Shukr” and “al-Salāt”. The principles contained in the Qur'an are essentially contained in the Fātiha. The existence of a single God worthy of praise and glorification, His sovereignty, His sovereignty, His being the only God, and the fact that worship can only be done to Him and help can only be sought from Him, are all expressed in a concise manner in this surah. Surah al-Fatiha is also a prayer, a supplication of unparalleled beauty.
