About DogMap

Do something new for a change! The only question is - where is the dog allowed?
The issue is particularly relevant for people who are dependent on an assistance dog for health reasons.

Dog-friendly (green) or assistance dog-friendly places (yellow) can be found on DogMap - worldwide and free of charge! The more people mark their local experiences on this map, the more valuable DogMap becomes for everyone. The DogMap was a project of Pfotenpiloten's access campaign "Assistance Dog Welcome", funded by the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
Access barriers can also be marked (red) to make them visible and remove them. With this convenient traffic light system, a day out with a dog can be quickly planned.

The app also includes our interactive digital exhibition "Life with an Assistance Dog", with lots of info and videos. Further useful offers are in development.

The map can also be embedded in your own website. The iFrame link and the terms of use for this can be found in the app.

Although the app was developed with maximum accessibility in mind, certain impairments can make it difficult to mark places. You can therefore leave this information on tape by calling 069-1532016-66 (please tell us name, city, street, what type of place it is). These tips will then be entered by our team.

Who we are:

Pfotenpiloten and its subsidiary organisation Stiftung Assistenzhund help people with chronic impairments to get a fresh start with a well-trained assistance dog.

We do not train teams ourselves: Instead, as an independent non-profit organisation, we establish effective structures for acceptance, quality and promotion. Pfotenpiloten is engaged in public relations and campaigns, and Stiftung Assistenzhund is building sustainable structures for quality assurance, recognition and promotion.

We see ourselves as independent mediators between the parties involved - owner, dog, trainer, public and sponsors: because only if all sides are taken into account can the concept develop in the long term.

The app does what the developers needed it to do. But, the app started in Germany, I'm in the USA. When I zoomed out, it literally searched for places everywhere, I moved to the US while being zoomed out and...
