Foreground Service Declaration – OWGlasses
OWGlasses uses a foreground service exclusively to support real-time AI voice conversations via smart glasses hardware.
Justification:
Hardware-Dependent AI Dialogue
The app initiates an AI voice session only when a supported OW smart glasses device is connected via Bluetooth. To prevent session interruption and avoid repeated reconnection delays, the foreground service maintains:
-An active Bluetooth audio link
- A persistent AI conversation context
Low-Latency Response Requirement
AI responses must be delivered in near real-time. Suspending the service would cause unacceptable latency or session drops whenever the app moves to the background or the phone screen turns off.
User Transparency & Control
A persistent notification titled “OWGlasses AI is active” is displayed while the service runs. Users can immediately stop the service via the notification or in-app settings.
No Background Data Collection
The foreground service does not collect location, perform analytics, show ads, or access data unrelated to active AI conversations.
Policy Compliance
This usage fully complies with the Google Play Policy on Foreground Services (Use Case: Companion Device / Audio Communication).
