Meltek is a free service that rewards you for using less electricity during certain hours when energy is in high demand, and the power grid is under strain. Use your energy savings for gift card rewards, donating to charities, planting trees, or buying carbon offsets.

Many electric utilities do not generate their own power. The cost of providing electricity can skyrocket during peak demand events, such as on the hottest summer days. So, instead of bearing these extremely high costs, and risking blackouts, utilities, through Meltek, are often better off paying you to use less energy. Also, during these peak events, the power grid relies on old power plants that are expensive and harm air quality and the environment. Reduce your energy usage with Meltek to earn money and help the planet.

How does it work?
1. Sign up with your electric utility information.

Meltek works with your utility to track your energy usage and reward you for your reductions. Currently, we serve residents who have Con Edison, PSEG Long Island, Orange & Rockland or Rockland Electric Company as their electric provider.

2. Get alerted to energy-saving events.

You’ll often get alerted a day in advance through push notifications, emails, or text messages. This is your chance to get paid for using less energy.

3. Reduce electricity usage any way you want during the event, including pre-cooling your home.

Set your temperature lower before the event. During the event, you can raise your AC temperature, switch off lights, unplug unused devices or postpone large appliance use, such as the washer/dryer, until after the event; the choice is yours on how to save energy! The more energy you save, the more you can earn.

4. Get paid. Refer your friends to join Meltek.

Get paid by Meltek a few days* or weeks after each event and use the rewards to redeem gift cards, donate to charity, plant trees, or buy carbon credits! Also, you can get a referral bonus anytime you refer friends, family members, or neighbors to join in on saving energy!
