About Upper Digestive Disease

The Mayo Clinic Upper Digestive Disease (UDD) Application is an innovative research platform enabling collection of Patient-Reported Outcomes.
Patients who have undergone treatment for upper digestive disease can use this tool once they acknowledge the following:
· Consent to engage in research
· Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) waiver
· Mayo Clinic terms of use
Once you acknowledge and register, you will be asked to complete a baseline data form. Next, you can initiate a survey, about your symptoms, at any time or follow the built-in timeline which allows you to take a survey every 3 months for the first year of registration, followed by a survey every 6 months for the second year of registration, and then one survey each year as long as you are using the application.
After finishing a survey, you will receive a dashboard with a 12-symptom domain bar graph showing how well you are doing in each domain.
If your overall domain score is in the GREEN zone, you should be reassured that your symptoms are within the expected range according to expert review.
If your overall domain score is in the YELLOW zone, there might be a need to incorporate some behavioral and lifestyle modifications to alleviate some of your symptoms.
If your overall domain score is in the RED zone, there might be a need to schedule an appointment with your healthcare provider to further investigate the symptoms that you are having.
Please note that the UDD App is a research tool, and it is not meant to provide any sort of medical advice. This is not a substitution for your healthcare provider. You can share the results of the tool in a pdf format. You can show the results to your primary healthcare provider to enhance your communication with them about your symptoms. If you are having an emergency, please call an emergency telephone number and seek professional medical help.
