The application guides you through the Polish footsteps of the historic Roman cemetery of Verano.
The Poles at the Roman Verano Cemetery application, following Polish traces of the historic Roman Verano cemetery, is a project of the Consular and Polish Diaspora of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Rome financed by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The application presents selected Polish graves at the Verano cemetery. Especially many Polish surnames can be found in the Headquarters 38, the so-called Foreign Quarters, but not all of them have been indicated in the application. When searching for Polish places on Verano, we encourage you to use GPS pins, photos and descriptions at the same time, which makes it easier to locate the tombstone, especially in columbaria and places of their high concentration.
The author of the texts and photos is Agata Rola-Bruni, a representative of the Polish community in Rome and enthusiast of Polonics, who tirelessly documents and discovers Polish places in Lazio. Special thanks go to the Roman Foundation. J.S. Umiastowska, the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Pontifical Institute of Church Studies in Rome, publishers of Maria Irena Kwiatkowska's publication "Polish Tombs in Rome's Cemeteries" (Warsaw 1999), which is an invaluable source of information for those interested in this subject. LYNX S.R.L is responsible for the graphic and technical side of the application. Stefano Penge.
