About Function Generator

Dual channel function / waveform / signal generator for the speaker / headphone audio output.

No Ads, No Permissions, No In App Purchasing, No Limited Features. Full Version.

Output is 16 bit for each left and right channels and at 44.1kHz. Output will depend on your device hardware. Some device hardware may may filter out the DC bias and low frequency signals. At high frequencies, the waveforms will be distorted due to limited number of samples for each waveform (for example at 4.41kHz, a sine waveform will be approximated by only 10 points). Therefore this is for fun/educational use, for critical applications use a real calibrated function generator.

Left and Right audio channels can be assigned to either channel 1 or channel 2.
Sine, Square & Triangular waveforms.
Frequency range from 1 mHz up to 22 kHz.
Amplitude as percentage 0-100%.
Set duty for square waveforms or skew triangular waveforms to get saw waveforms.
Offset the phase of waveforms.
Sweep frequency or amplitude (Single, Repeat & Bounce modes).
Amplitude Modulation (AM).
Frequency Modulation (FM).
Burst mode for a specific number of waveforms (1-10000).
White noise & pink noise Generator. Pink (1/f) noise falls of at ~3dB per octave between 43 Hz and 44 kHz.
Memory slots to save & recall channel configuration.
Select values with spring slider or number pad.

Frequently Asked Questions(FAQ)

What is the function of the Function Generator app?

The Function Generator app is a dual channel function/waveform/signal generator designed for the speaker/headphone audio output.

Does the app have any ads or in-app purchases?

No, the app does not contain any ads, in-app purchases, or limited features. It is the full version.

What is the output quality of the app?

The output is 16 bit for each left and right channels and at 44.1kHz. However, the actual output may vary depending on your device's hardware.

Are there any limitations or distortions in the waveforms generated by the app?

Some device hardware may filter out the DC bias and low frequency signals. At high frequencies, the waveforms may be distorted due to the limited number of samples for each waveform.

Is the app suitable for critical applications?

No, the app is primarily designed for fun and educational use. For critical applications, it is recommended to use a real calibrated function generator.

What features are available for adjusting the waveforms?

The app allows you to assign the Left and Right audio channels to either channel 1 or channel 2. You can generate Sine, Square, and Triangular waveforms. Other features include adjusting frequency range, amplitude, duty cycle, phase offset, and performing amplitude modulation (AM) and frequency modulation (FM).

Can the frequency or amplitude be swept?

Yes, the app provides sweep frequency or amplitude modes, including Single, Repeat, and Bounce.

Is there a burst mode available in the app?

Yes, the app offers a burst mode where you can specify the number of waveforms to generate (1-10000).

Does the app have a noise generator?

Yes, the app includes a white noise and pink noise generator. The pink noise falls off at approximately 3dB per octave between 43 Hz and 44 kHz.

Can I save and recall channel configurations?

Yes, the app provides memory slots to save and recall channel configurations for convenience.

How can I select values for adjustments?

You can select values using either a spring slider or a number pad interface.

Where can I find more detailed explanation about the app?

More detailed explanation about the app can be found on the website associated with it.

I don't have a lot of experience with frequency, but this is an easy user app and I'm having fun learning. I especially like the kHz feature.
