About Kothagiri collective farmers

Based in Kothagiri, Tamil Nadu, KCFPCL came to life to support local farmers producing organic goods and market those at a fair price. Our aim is to boost farmers' well-being, support localisation and nurture the soil by bringing to the farmers' knowledge and awareness the benefits of organic farming and crop rotation system. In doing so we ensure to leave behind a healthier planet for generations to come.

Who Backs Us:
The idea for our organization was by Department of Agricultural Marketing and Agri-business of the Niligiris District. We are funded by the Tamilnadu Small Farmers Agri-business Consortium (TNSFAC). Our Resource Institution (RI) is Snehalaya Agricultural Management Society.

How Farmers Benefit:
With a lot of the farmers being isolated in the hills, distribution was difficult. KCFPCL has countered that by providing 1500 acres and necessary tools to our 1000+ farmers and opened better access to the wider market. Farmers benefit by 10% of the profit from selling their vegetables, fruits and other value added produce.

How Consumers Benefit:
"We are what we eat", we all know that and have been told so by our ancestors. But having said that, markets do not provide many organic products to choose from. Here, you are introduced to a variety of them which will then be delivered to you fresh and safe at a cheaper cost.

Bright future ahead:
One of the projects for our near future is to subsidize the cost of good quality imported seeds to make available to our farming community.
